Associate Director for Watts

Bio

Originally from Virginia, my wife and I relocated to the Raleigh-Durham area in November of 2013.  We both enjoy traveling and had previously fallen in love with the area during one of our many visits.  After my wife received a job offer to work in Raleigh, we decided to pick up and start our new lives here in North Carolina.  It has been an amazing adventure since that day.

After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from James Madison University, I embarked on my journey in financial aid back in 2007.  Prior to Duke, I worked as a financial aid counselor in a for-profit career school as well as a 2-year public community college.  The combination of these two opportunities provided me with a strong foundation of financial aid knowledge that has continued to grow with every passing day.

One major life goal of mine is to help as many students as possible reach their dream of achieving a higher education.  I do this by providing the highest level of customer service possible to students and parents who need help sorting through paperwork and making sense of policies and regulations.  I realized very early on that Duke’s guiding principles matched very closely with my own values.  We also both share the belief that a student's financial resources should not be a barrier to enrollment.  This is one of the many reasons that I have come to love working at Duke, because I believe very strongly in Duke’s promise to meet 100% of its undergraduate students’ demonstrated financial need.

Outside of the office, I enjoy the great outdoors, live music, cooking new and exciting foods, as well as spending time with friends and family.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance!
